Important Next Steps You Must Take to Receive Your Financial AidLog on to MyUCSC view and accept your financial aid offer. Learn About the Financial Aid You Have Accepted “Your Guide to Financial Aid” provides information about each type of award administered by the UCSC Financial Aid Office. “Your Guide…” also describes eligibility criteria, rights and responsibilities, how and when your aid is paid, and more. Use our Important Next Steps checklist to guide you through the following steps. Complete a Promissory Note for Your Federal Direct Student Loan If you accepted your first Federal Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized loan at UCSC, you must complete the Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). You will need the Department of Education PIN that you used to file the FAFSA. To apply for or re-establish a PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov. Complete Pre-Loan Counseling for Your Federal Direct Student Loan If this is your first Federal Federal Direct loan at UCSC,complete mandatory pre-loan/entrance counseling. Follow the instructions for Entrance Counseling. (Note: you will need to complete Exit Counseling when you graduate.)

Complete a Promissory Note for Your Federal Perkins Loan If you were offered and accepted a Federal Perkins Loan at UCSC, you must complete a Federal Perkins MPN. You will find a link on MyUCSC next to your accepted loan.
After completing the Federal Perkins MPN, you must also complete pre-loan counseling if this is your first Perkins Loan.
To receive a PLUS loan you accepted on your aid offer, your parents must complete and submit a UCSC Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students Application Form. After your parent completes the PLUS application, they will also need to do a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note.
Use our Budget Worksheet to determine if you will receive a refund after UCSC fee and housing charges are paid with financial aid. If you think you will receive a refund, you may sign up with Student Business Services for direct deposit to your personal checking or savings account. Otherwise, aid refunds owed to you will be paid via check and mailed to your local address. | ||||||
