Financial Aid for International Students

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

In general, international students do not qualify for financial aid from UC Santa Cruz. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents to qualify for federal, state, or university aid at UC Santa Cruz.

Students who graduated from a California high school and attended a high school in California for three or more years, however, may be eligible for an exemption from non-resident tuition. See AB 540: UC Tuition Exemption for Eligible California High School Graduates for more information.

Options are limited, but do exist. International students needing financial assistance may want to research Private Scholarships or Private Loans.

GRADUATE STUDENTS

Although international graduate students are not eligible for federal loans at UC Santa Cruz, fellowships and other funding from the Division of Graduate Studies and individual academic departments may be available. Contact the academic department for more information.
