![]() GRANTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTSGrant funding is provided by the federal government,the state of California, and UC Santa Cruz to assist undergraduate students who demonstrate the greatest financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid. University of CaliforniaUC Santa Cruz Grants are awarded to students with financial need and are funded by the University of California Santa Cruz. UC Santa Cruz also determines eligibility for Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grants for which we receive a small amount of funding each year. Funds are targeted to low income students and are used to supplement our UC Santa Cruz Grant program. State of California Cal Grant A and Cal Grant B are awarded by the California Student Aid Commission to California residents who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. |
Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate significant financial need. The maximum Pell Grant award for 2008-2009 is $4,731. Academic Competitiveness Grants (ACG) are awarded to first and second year undergraduates. The annual award for fist year students is $750 and the award for second year students is $1,300. To receive the first year ACG, students cannot have been previously enrolled in a full undergraduate program as an admitted student. Non-degree related courses taken during high school do not affect eligibility. Eligibility criteria are:
