Deadlines and Key Dates

Financial aid funding is limited. Each year, undergraduate students must meet two main deadlines at UCSC to retain eligibility for all sources of financial aid (see chart at right). Filing late could be a disaster if you need financial assistance with your educational expenses.

However, if you miss our deadlines we will determine your eligibility for Federal Direct Loan and Pell Grant.

November 1-30 :  New Students: Apply for admission to UCSC. Make sure to complete the scholarship section of the admissions application. Remember that the admissions essay may be used to determine scholarship eligibility.

January 1:  First day to submit FAFSA and GPA Verification Form for the next academic year. Students are advised to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible but no later than March 2.

Students applying for admission should file as soon as possible after January 1 to receive the earliest possible determination of aid eligibility.

March 2 Undergraduate Students: Final deadline to submit your FAFSA. This deadline is important to retain eligibility for all university and state funding sources.

California residents must also submit the GPA Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission by March 2 if you are not a current Cal Grant recipient.

April 15: New undergraduate students admitted for fall quarter: All verification documents requested by the UCSC Financial Aid Office must be received by this date in order to receive an offer letter before the admission reply date (freshmen: May 1; college transfers: June 1).

June 15: Final date to return requested verification documents to the UCSC Financial Aid Office. You must return these documents by June 15 or by the date listed on the request. This deadline is important to retain eligibility for university-funded financial aid.
(Note: graduate students are not subject to this deadline.)

April 1- June 1: The Financial Aid Office will post aid offers and send email notifications to most entering frosh and transfer students.

June 1 - August 15: The Financial Aid Office will post aid offers and send email notifications to most continuing students.

Late August: Fall quarter bills posted. You may view your charges and pending aid at My UCSC and subtract this amount from your total charges.

September: Financial aid in excess of university charges will be directly deposited to your personal bank account on or about the first business day of fall quarter if you have established a direct deposit agreement. Otherwise
a check will be mailed to your local addess.

December 21: New students who have been admitted for winter quarter: All verification documents requested by the UCSC Financial Aid Office must be received by this date in order to retain eligibility for all university and state funding sources.

January 1 : You must re-apply for financial aid for the next academic year. Go to "January 1" at the top of this page.
