Deadlines and Key Dates - Undergraduates

Financial aid funding is limited. Each year, undergraduate students must meet two main deadlines at UCSC to retain eligibility for all sources of financial aid. The first is the March 2nd FAFSA deadline to retain eligibility for Cal Grant A and B and university financial aid. You must then meet our own institutional deadline of June 1st to continue to be considered for university financial aid. Filing late could be a disaster if your financial need is great.

However, if you are filing late, we will determine your eligibility for Federal Direct Loan and Pell Grant. In addition, you will be considered for other university administered grant, loan and work-study funds on a fund available basis.

Mark Your Calendar Each Year with these Important Deadlines!!!

  • November 1-30 :  New Students: Apply for admission to UCSC. Make sure to complete the scholarship section of the admissions application. Remember that the admissions essay can also serve as your scholarship essay.

  • January 1 :  First day to submit FAFSA and GPA Verification Form for the next academic year. Students are advised to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible but no later than March 2. You may submit either the paper version or the online application at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  • March 2 : Final deadline to submit your FAFSA. This deadline is important to retain eligibility for university and state funding sources. Entering frosh and transfer students should file as soon after January 1 as possible in order to receive the earliest possible determination of aid eligibility. California residents must also submit the GPA Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission by March 2 if not a current Cal Grant recipient.

  • April 15: New students: All verification documents requested by the UCSC Financial Aid Office must be received by this date in order to receive an offer letter before the admission reply date (freshmen: May 1; college transfers: June 1).

  • June 1: Final date to return requested verification documents to the UCSC Financial Aid Office. You must return these documents by June 1 or by the date listed on the request. This deadline is important to retain eligibility for university-funded financial aid.
