![]() Cal Grant Program The State of California provides renewable grants to students meet eligibility criteria for use at eligible California schools and colleges. The Cal Grant is a valuable source of multiple year funding. UCSC students may receive the Cal Grant A which covers fees or Cal Grant B which covers fees and a modest stipend. Maximum awards in 2008-2009 are $7,126 for Cal Grant A and $8,677 for Cal Grant B at UC campuses. Awards to freshmen are renewable for up to 4 years. The term of renewal for all other students depends on their year in college when they first receive the award; For example, awards to junior transfers are renewable for up to 2 years. Education Master's Degree Students are eligible to request a one year extension of the Cal Grant they received as an undergraduate. To qualify, students must submit a Request for Teaching Program Benefits form to the California Student Aid Commission (Form G-44). Cal Grant Application Deadline

* If you have completed less than 24 semester or 36 quarter units of college work by September of your high school senior or college freshman year, submit the GPA Verification Form to your high school for verification of your GPA.
Otherwise, submit the form to your college Registrar for verification of your college GPA.
Note: The UCSC Financial Aid Office will automatically submit GPA verifications for all current UCSC students not receiving Cal Grants who appear to qualify based on their GPA and FAFSA for the current year.
