Counseling and Psychological ServicesStudents contact CPS for many reasons, including stress, depression, anxiety, eating and body image concerns, grief and loss, substance abuse, issues related to oppression (racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, able-ism), issues related to personal identity (cultural, sexual orientation or gender identity), recovery from trauma (including sexual assault, family violence, and childhood abuse), relationship concerns, family or academic problems, transfer/re-entry challenges, or simply adjusting to the many demands of college/graduate school. Counseling psychologists are based within the colleges, and represent a diversity of ethnicities, sexual orientations, and professional approaches. We offer crisis services, brief individual counseling, counseling groups, workshops, and a stress reduction workshops. Check out our website at www2.ucsc.edu/counsel for more information. To schedule an appointment, please call us or drop-in! We will work with you to arrange the best possible services for your situation. Family, friends, faculty or staff members who are concerned about a student are welcome to call a campus psychologist for consultation: 831-459-2628 (M-F 8am-5pm). For after-hours and weekend concerns, call the campus police dispatch (831-459-2100) who will connect you with the appropriate crisis resource person.
