College Eight StaffRavi Rajan: Provost Ravi oversees the academic programs of the college. This includes all advising and academic discipline, as well as the core course, speaker and film series, and the programming mandated by the Academic Senate. He also presides at ceremonial occasions and represents the college's interests to the central administration. Susan Welte: College Administrative Officer Susan oversees the planning, development, and coordination of the business and operational functions of College Eight and its student life. This includes supervision of the staff, college finances and facilities. Mary McKinnon: Associate Administrative Officer for Student Life Mary is responsible for all aspects of the student life program. She oversees the development of social, educational and multicultural programs for all students, and the enforcement of residential policies. She is also available as a resource for all students. Jan Burroughs: Academic Preceptor Jan assists students with many academic issues, particularly College Honors and EAP planning. She is, however, also available to assist students with general academic questions and concerns. Lauren Reed: Academic Preceptor Lauren provides academic advising to College Eight students particularly in the areas of individual majors and extensions. Charlie Meusel: College Eight Assistant Charlie has been with College Eight since 1988. He provides advice and guidance to students in interpreting various petition processes, registration, and student records. He also schedules appointments with the academic advisers, manages the student mail room, and oversees the daily management of the college office. Charlie is here to help you! Sara Walsh: Academic Adviser/Supervisor of Student Records Sara can help you plan your class schedule, pick a major and direct you to other academic resources. She also coordinates the College Eight Core Course and is the assistant to the Provost. Patrice Monsour, Ph.D. : College Eight Counseling Psychologist Patrice offers counseling services and consultation as a staff member of the UCSC Counseling and Psychological Services. Counseling services for students are free and confidential, and include brief individual, couples and group counseling, crisis services, a Stress Reduction Clinic, and educational workshops. Theresa Beasley: Housing Coordinator Theresa is available to assist you with information about the housing program. In addition, the College Eight Housing Office coordinates room assignments, meal plan changes and issues replacement room keys. Heidi Lewin: College Eight Programs Coordinator The College Programs Coordinator plans and coordinates College Eight student activities and events, which provide an opportunity for students to participate in social, multicultural, recreational, and intellectual exchange. Your ideas and energy are most welcome-please stop by! Joy Pehlke: College Eight Programs Coordinator Joy & Heidi work together with the student programming staff to develop exciting cultural, educational, and co-curricular events for students. Joy and the rest of the Programs Staff encourage student input for new events -- come by and tell us your ideas! Sandy Lord: Financial Coordinator Sandy handles the financial transactions and payroll record keeping for the college service center. The College Eight financial assistant is also here to help you with Student Project Funds and College Eight senior thesis awards. Baldo Zaragoza and the College Eight Maintenance Staff are responsible for routine upkeep and repairs in our buildings. If you find that you need something in your room, or wish to report a problem in your hall or building, please submit a work request online at http://fixit.ucsc.edu. You may also contact the staff of the Maintenance Shop, which is located beneath the B/L building. Jody Croce: College Eight Café Manager Jody and Wendy manage the College Eight Café. In their understanding, calm way, they continue the tradition of a really happy place to spend time, meet people, discuss studies and eat great food. Melessa Hemler: College Eight Faculty Services Supervisor Melessa provides support services for College Eight faculty.
Community Safety Officers (CSOs): The CSOs are responsible for the safety and security of the College during the evening and work with residents in complying with university and college policies. In addition to handling any emergencies or problems that may arise, the CSOs are available to let you in your room if you forget your key, to ask you to turn down your stereo during quiet hours, and assist you in many other ways. |
