HOW TO ENROLL IN THE COLLEGE EIGHT CORE COURSE
This website is intended to assist you in selecting the appropriate College Eight Core Course and to help you enroll into the correct section of the College Eight Core Course. Be sure to have read your online resources, the Advising and Enrollment Handbook, and Schedule of Classes as you navigate this site.
For Fall 2008, incoming lower-division students enroll in a section of the College Eight Core Course (Environment and Society — CLEI 80A or CLEI 80B). Your Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) status determines your CLEI 80A or 80B section. The College Eight Core Course satisfies the College graduation requirement in addition to general education requiremments. Your entry level writing requirements (ELWR) status helps determine which section you should take.
STEP 1:

HAVE SATISFIED THE ENTRY LEVEL WRITING REQUIREMENT (ELWR)?
This requirement is satisfied by any ONE of the following: (Note all that apply to you)

Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE) - score of 8 or better
SAT Reasoning Test - Writing Section - score of 680 or better
SAT II Subject Test in Writing - score of 680 or better
IB Higher Level English A Exam - score of 5
IB Standard Level English A Exam - score of 6 or better
AP English Language or AP English Literature Exam - score of 3 or better
UC-transferable college English composition course - minimum grade of "C"
ACT Combined English Writing Exam - score of 30

Any exam score reports and/or official transcripts must be received by the Office of Admissions by July 15, 2008!

Your eligibility for enrollment in a core course section will be determined by an official transcript.
Unofficial transcripts and/or unofficial copies of AP or IB Exam scores will NOT allow you to enroll into an advanced section of the core class!
