Mapping Genders,
Mapping Histories: Rethinking South Asia

This conference will explore the interrelated epistemological
frameworks of gender studies and historiography in the multiple articulations
of what constitutes the subjects and studies of "South-Asia." Speakers
include Parama Roy (UC Riverside), Geeta Patel (Wellesley College), Aamir
Mufti (UCLA), Madhavi Sunder (UC Davis Law School), Gayatri Gopinath (UC
Davis), Indrani Chatterjee (Brown University), Raka Ray (UC Berkeley)
and Rosemary George (UC San Diego).
This event is being co-sponsored by the South Asia Studies Initiative
(SASI), the Women's Studies department, the Institute for Humanities Research,
and the Center for Cultural Studies. For further information on the conference,
