Provides a space for the reading and discussion of current scholarship that
focuses on race as an object or site of analysis. This year’s focus will
be the meanings of race in the post-Civil Rights era: racial constructions
since the social movements of the 1960s and 1970s, racial difference in neoconservative
ideologies and rhetoric, the overhaul of affirmative action policies on definitions
of race, and the meaning of face in color-blind discourses.
