Some
frequently asked key questions can be answered by looking at the following
links:
- Link to standard UCSC key sign-out agreement form: http://www.ucsc.edu/ppmanual/forms/facil/sps0002-keyusefm.pdf.
Units should have one of these with a signature for every key loaned.
This form should be used for all keys loaned by CUHS units except
issue of keys to student residents where details of terms of a key
loan are described in their housing contract.
- Costs for key cutting and re-pinning locks to lock out a compromised
key are shown at the Physical Plant web recharge rate page: http://ucscfac.ucsc.edu/facilities/recharge_rates.html
Most keys are $6.25 each. Re-keying costs are quoted by the Physical
Plant Lock Shop who performs all campus lock repairs and changes.
- Units using computerized record systems to track key issue and use
may want to look at the CATS web page on how to select a password:
http://www2.ucsc.edu/cats/sc/help/intro/passwords.shtml.
The Key Coordinator recommends changing your computer password quarterly,
(every three months).
- Staff Human Resources directions for recovery of keys concurrent
to employee termination or lay off (see pages 59, 88):
- Card access issues are handled by CUHS IT. To report a card access
problem, use an IT Service Request: http://oak.ucsc.edu/IT/HelpDesk/serviceForm.cfm.
