Mission Statement

In support of the academic mission of the University, Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is committed to providing a broad range of counseling and mental health services to the increasingly diverse community at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The principal goals of CPS are to address the mental health needs of students and to enhance their psychological development and well-being. CPS promotes a healthy psychological climate at the university through consultation, outreach, and training within the context of the unique college system.

The services of CPS are based on a developmental model and a community psychology approach that addresses the academic, career, and personal issues that are central to students' lives and academic success. As a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary service, CPS is committed to providing appropriate and sensitive services that are accessible to all students, including traditionally underrepresented groups. CPS fosters a diverse community that emphasizes acceptance and respect for all members, an environment where diversity is valued and promoted.
