Tips to Maximize your Recruitment Efforts on the UCSC Campus:

  1. Create a campus presence with multiple ongoing contacts, not just with the Career Center, but with the campus community at large. Maximize your company’s visibility by attending career fairs and developing collaborative relationships with student organizations and faculty.
  2. If you schedule and Information Session, or are participating in other campus events, be sure to contact the Career Center’s Events Coordinator at 831-459-5107 so we can include your activities in Career Center publicity advertisements. We also encourage you to advertise your event in the City on the Hill Press, Fish Rap, KZSC, and with student organizations.
  3. When entering your jobs into InterviewTRAK, include all appropriate UC Santa Cruz majors to ensure a diverse applicant pool.
  4. Include your Interview Attire requirements in the “Company Description” section of your InterviewTrak job listings to clarify your expectations regarding appropriate interview attire.
  5. The number of primary candidates you select should match the number of interview slots available. Also select 3-5 alternates per schedule, as all primary candidates may not sign-up.
  6. Communicate regularly with students via email throughout the recruiting process.
    • Send candidates congratulatory emails through out the recruiting process.
    • Remind them of any special pre-interview events or interview attire requirements.
    • Contact selected candidates if you notice that they haven’t signed up for an interview time.
    • Keep them apprised of their post-interview status.
  7. Monitor your schedule(s) throughout the process so you can make adjustments if necessary. Contact Jan Carmichael at 831-459-2185 if you find you need to modify your schedule(s).
