The Arboretum Needs Your Support

Here's What You Can Do to Help!


After reading recent press announcements about the Arboretum’s staffing cuts, many people have contacted us to express their concern for the Arboretum and to ask how they can help.

We want everyone to know that the Arboretum is open and will remain open! We are open every day from 9am to 5pm except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We hope you will come visit, shop at Norrie’s (every day 10am to 4pm) and be inspired to become a supporting member.  

There are many ways you can help sustain the Arboretum through these difficult times:

Give a Gift and Become a Supporting Member

First, and foremost, we need your financial support.  Memberships and gifts account for much of the Arboretum’s operating revenue.  We will need more support in the coming months if we are going to reinstate staff and programs.

Below are several ways you can become a member and/or give.
You may designate your gift or membership for the Arboretum Staff Fund to support restoring staff, public education programs, and service to the community.

  • Donate on-line using the University's secure web server:

    Important: clicking on the "Give to the Arboretum" button will display a page on the University's web site. Select "Arboretum" from the "I would like to make a gift to:" drop-down menu (it's the fourth item on the list), or enter "Arboretum" or "Arboretum Staff Fund" in the "Other area/Pledge number" text box.

  • Send us a check, made out to the UCSC Foundation, noting on the check it is for the Arboretum or Arboretum Staff Fund to:
      • Arboretum
      • UC Santa Cruz

        Santa Cruz, CA 95064        .
  • Donations of $45 or more make you eligible for membership or extending an existing membership.
  • Download, print and send in the Member Form so you can determine the level of your contribution and membership benefits you would like.
  • To make a credit card gift, you may call our Office at (831) 427-2998.
  • You may purchase a membership or make a gift anytime you visit the Arboretum, by going to Norrie’s Gift Shop or our Office.

Thanks to the help of our wonderful volunteers at Norrie’s, all profits from the purchases you make go to support the Arboretum.  Norrie’s is chock full of wonderful gifts, garden books and items, jewelry, and our own propagated plants.
Just shopping? NO entrance fee.

Become a Volunteer

We can use your talents, and there is much to do in caring for the collections and helping the Arboretum raise funds. We truly appreciate the thousands of hours our volunteers have donated. Its part of what makes the Arboretum a special place, our community of friends. Our volunteers have been an integral part of generating significant revenue to support the Arboretum. Call the office to sign up.
