New Faculty Checklist

Listed below are some of the important tasks that, as a new faculty member, you need to complete early and some links to guide you.

  1. Complete employment forms at your divisional academic personnel office. You will need to bring your driver's license and social security card, or your U.S. passport. Non-U.S. citizens should bring all visa documentation, as well as passport.
  2. Obtain Faculty Identification (ID) card from your divisional academic personnel office.
  3. Have Faculty ID card activated for library use. You can do this at either McHenry Library or the Science Library at the circulation desk.
  4. Obtain your parking permit (or bus pass depending on your mode of transportation) from the Parking Office . You will need your Faculty ID card and a copy of your appointment letter.
  5. Attend Benefits Orientation and sign up for benefits.
  6. Have your name listed in the campus directory.  To obtain the form go to: http://its.ucsc.edu/services/telephone/faculty_and_staff/dirform.pdf
  7. Open a computer account. Visit the ITS Accounts web site to learn the correct procedure.
  8. Visit http://ic.ucsc.edu/faculty/index.shtml#cs for other computer related faculty resources
  9. Contact your Department Manager regarding mailbox, keys, photocopying, faxing services, and supplies, as well as other services.
  10. Familiarize yourself with the campus emergency evacuation procedures
