A. DEANS
A Dean shall hold a concurrent university appointment in one of the following title series: Professor series, Professor in Residence series, or one of the equivalent ranks as defined by Regents' Standing Order 103.3. Deans are members of the Senior Management Group.
An appointment as Dean may be for full- or part-time, and is normally for a five-year period.

B. ACTING DEANS
The Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor shall recommend appointment of an Acting Dean to the Chancellor after consultation with the Academic Senate. An Acting Dean shall be a tenured member of the faculty. Appointments shall be for a definite period, normally one year or less. An appointment may be extended.
The Chancellor has the authority to appoint an Acting Dean with a salary of up to the Regental Threshold upon the recommendation of the Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor. Salaries in excess of the Regental Threshold require Regental approval.
ASSOCIATE DEAN
The Dean has the authority to appoint Associate Deans. The title Associate Dean shall be held by an academic appointee for a definite term of no longer than 3 years. The appointment may be renewed for additional terms.
Compensation may vary depending on the duties assigned. Appointees may be paid a stipend and/or be assigned a percent time as Associate Dean. Contact Academic Human Resources for assistance in establishing compensation or other questions you may have.
