010.000 OMBUDSMAN

The UCSC Ombudsman's Office is an independent resource that receives, assesses, and informally investigates complaints from all members of the campus community. The office provides faculty, staff, and students with confidential, impartial, informal assistance to resolve complaints. The Ombudsman seeks to help people identify options for resolving problems and to determine if university policies and actions are fair and reasonable. The Ombudsman does not supercede the normal lines of authority or established procedures and does not advocate on behalf of complainants, but may recommend changes in campus policies or procedures to remedy systemic problems and to promote equitable treatment of all members of the campus community.
