PHILOSOPHY LECTURER
The Philosophy Department at the University
of California, Santa Cruz is developing an on-going pool of qualified temporary
instructors to teach courses that will supplement the core curriculum in the
department. We invite applicants interested in teaching one or more undergraduate
Philosophy courses in the areas listed below. A candidate selected to the Philosophy
Lecturer Pool may be approached by another campus unit to teach a course requiring
the same minimum qualifications in an appropriate subject area.
Rank: Lecturer
Salary: $4,696.50-$5,142 per course commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications: ABD in Philosophy; demonstrated university teaching excellence.
Effective: As openings occur starting Fall Quarter 2002, contingent
upon availability of funding.
Most of the courses needed by the Department are lecture courses, so applicants
should speak to their qualifications as lecturers. We particularly invite applicants
qualified to teach courses in any of the following areas:
Epistemology; metaphysics; history of science; philosophy of language; areas
of applied ethics
