Lecturer Pool
The Department of Ocean Sciences at UCSC invites applications for an on-going pool of qualified part-time temporary lecturer(s) to teach various introductory courses. Course topics include all areas of oceanography, including biological, chemical, and physical oceanography and marine biology and geology. These courses are designed to meet campus general education requirements and standard texts and/or readers may be used for these classes. All areas and subspecialties of Ocean and Marine Sciences will be seriously considered. Special attention will be given to persons with proven undergraduate teaching skills. Teaching assistants may be assigned to assist instructors and will be supervised by the instructor.
Rank: Lecturer
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary is approximately $6,000 per course (prorated for percent of time).
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned a doctoral degree or equivalent in Ocean, Marine, or Atmospheric Sciences or equivalent, and must present strong evidence of teaching competence or potential for teaching.
Effective Dates: As openings occur starting Winter quarter 2001, contingent upon availability of funding.
