We are proud to showcase the Student Enrichment Clubs and Organizations affiliated with the black experience at UCSC. The AARCC has worked diligently over the years to help establish, collaborate and support student organizations on the UCSC campus. African/Black Student Alliance (A/BSA)
A/BSA is one of the oldest and largest student organizations the on the UCSC campus. Comprised of a multitude of scholars, leaders, artists and community oriented students who sees the organization as a safe space, a place to network and to come together in unity.

African American Theatre Arts Troupe

Focuses on the African American theatrical experience and performs one groundbreaking production during the year. Mr. Don Williams, Founder, Adjunct Lecturer, and Director of UCSC Cultural Arts & Diversity Center

Rainbow Theatre

Rainbow Theater

Introduction to Asian American, Chicano/Latino, and African American plays through reading major authors, discussion of social and historical context of their work, and development of a production of a one-act play from each cultural group.

Black Sisters United (BSU)
BSU is a support group for African American women to come together and discuss issues that affect them on the UCSC campus.

Black Men's Alliance (BMA)
BMA is designed to support and strengthen the black male experience on the UCSC campus. Each year the group hosts a variety of events and activities including the original Jazz and Blues Night as well as a annual Spring barbeque.

Umoja Mentoring Big Brother/Sister Program
Umoja Program is a mentorship program for incoming freshman and transfers students who are paired with continuing students. The program seeks to aid new students in their transition into the atmosphere of campus life by providing student panels, tutoring, social events and study sessions.

Destination Higher Education (DHE)
D.H.E. is an outreach and retention program that is held every Spring quarter. This program introduces admitted high school seniors and transfer students to life on a college campus, and gives them and opportunity to engage with the African/Black community at UC Santa Cruz.

Newly formed support group for graduate students to deal with issues and prgramming relevant to their needs

 

UCSC Gospel Choir (Porter College)
Valerie Joi Fiddmont directs the multi-voice choir devoted to the genre of gospel music. The choir is offered as a two-unit course for students. Winter & Spring Quarter
